These tribal style earrings feature a large shield shape accented with Rosarita, a fine silver crescent moon, and a synthetic ruby. The ear wires are sterling silver and the piece is finished with a velvet matte finish and is oxidized (antiqued). Although the earrings are large, they are also of light gauge fine silver that is strengthened with a wire frame. The earrings are slightly domed to give them a more organic feel.

Rosarita is the glass byproduct of gold ore processing, and it found in both transparent and opaque shades of red, orange and sometimes yellow. The material is rare as gold ore processing in the US dropped off greatly after the early 20th century.
